a trick or treat spritz! every year i bring myself a drink for trick or treating, but this year i have the CUTEST CUP EVER - this is the @shopsimplemodern harvest collection!!! it’s cupholder friendly and has double wall insulation to keep drinks cold or warm for hours. they come in four cute spooky designs, obviously the dancing skeletons is my fave though.

the REVEAL of our built-in!!!

we gained soooo much storage, we finally have a place for our shoes, izzy’s toys, our board games, our office supplies, i’ll do a full tour of the inside once it’s actually a little organized.

ps i am sooo excited i can decorate the little nook for xmas!!!! 🥹

the details —

@ikea furniture pieces we used : 2 shallow depth pax wardrobes, 1 kallax bench with doors, 1 billy bookcase

doors and trim and birch bench top all made by my Tasker on @taskrabbit (the shallow depth pax units only have sliding doors so we made them from scratch, they’re MDF!)

paint color is @sherwinwilliams eventide

our entryway built-in PART 2!!!! there are lots of

our entryway built-in PART 2!!!! there are lots of incredibly talented power tool wielding moms on instagram, but that’s not me so instead i rely on @taskrabbit for like every sort of task i either can’t do or don’t want to do 😆 after assembling the cabinets and painting, our Tasker did the rest -

- built MDF doors from scratch
- built all the trim pieces
- cut out the baseboard behind the bench so it would sit flush
- constructed the most gorge piece of birch for the benchtop
- built paneling and shelving for above the bench
- hung the peg rails
- fixed the floor that was unstained under the original cabinet we removed
- replaced our disgusting old totally non-aesthetic wall vent
(and not seen — he also moved outlets for us so we can still use them!!)

if you haven’t used @taskrabbit, i really do swear by it! we’ve had them clean up after parties, hang christmas lights, replace toilets, pick up a birthday dinner from a restaurant far away, even break down and haul away our cardboard — like, literally everything 😆

our entryway built-in PART ONE!!! we have needed

our entryway built-in PART ONE!!!

we have needed to do this ever since the day we moved in, this wall and the original cabinet here was just such a giant waste of space and we have so much stuff and so little storage.

it took a LOT of measuring (and quadruple checking) to come up with a design of ikea cabinets that would fit in this space and not be too deep for our tiny corner where the door is.

we did two shallow depth pax cabinets (but need doors built because this size pax doesn’t have regular doors ofc), one kallax shelf on its side to be the bench and a tiny little billy bookshelf on the right to fit in our tiny corner.

next we decided on the paint — i wanted to change it up from a cream color i’d probably typically go with and went with @sherwinwilliams eventide!

and yes you can paint ikea furniture but you gotta sand and prime SOOOO MUCH. i used STIX primer and it was a loooong super boring process.

next up i’m building the doors and the trim pieces!!! LOL JK i’m ABSOLUTELY NOT CAPABLE OF THAT AND WE ALL KNOW IT!!!!
