printable mothers day gift wrap
remember last year i made some handwritten gift wrap for your dads?! well i did it this year for your moms! it’s super simple, just print it onto standard printer paper (card stock is much harder to wrap with, so just use copy paper).

diy cat scratcher
if you follow me on instagram — you know i like my cats. i like them like they’re my babies. fyi their names are bodhi and lucy, and they’re brother and sister. i even assisted in their birth (from a pregnant street cat that my friend had taken in). i was there the day they were born and they just celebrated their third birthdays on saturday! i’ve never actually had cats before — i grew up in a dog family, and always believed all the stigmas about cats being weird. but when i met these kittens, things changed. i love that i don’t have to go out to walk them and we take full responsibility for having raised them to be total cuddlers.
so when fancy feast approached me to partner with them to promote their #WaysToWOW campaign to feature their new chicken broths, i thought it was the perfect timing to celebrate their birthdays — because we pretty much only feed them wet food on their birthdays. and bodhi doesn’t even like wet food normally, but they went CRAZY for this stuff.
along with giving them some celebratory grub, i also decided to make them a birthday present. we usually use the cardboard scratchers from the grocery store, but the cardboard gets EVERYWHERE when they go to town on it — so i wanted to see if they’d like sisal as much and i wouldn’t have to clean up after them as much. lucy loves it. bodhi is not so sure yet.Read More

happy weekend
phew! it’s friday. this week has been a little overwhelming, as it always is coming home from a week away. last week was my brothers wedding and i survived my fear of public speaking and making the best man toast — plus the wedding was a total blast. i’ll recap my trip asap! i’m still totally not caught up on emails and deadlines — but i’m getting there. my dad is in town for his birthday this weekend, so we’re making him dinner and a banana cream pie. hope you guys have a good one!
⋅ love everything this girl does. her kitchen makes me swoon so hard
⋅ such a perfectly simple mothers day gift
⋅ random, but i bought this for last weeks wedding and i’ve never recommended a strapless bra before. it never fell down!

⋅ guarantee not one guest wouldn’t worship you for serving this

f21 faves
with the summer coming — i’m thinking all my clothes are too confining and tight and black. so if i’m buying clothes for the new season, i’m going to focus on loose and lightweight materials. you can kind of see that’s where my head is at with these picks.

maker spotlight : owlkill studio
today i want to introduce you to the lovely adelia of owlkill studio! they make lovely handmade jewelry + leather accessories in their studio in upstate NY. i’ve been following adelia on instagram for a while now, and i’ve been obsessed with her serene studio scenes that she shares and obviously her perfectly simple products.
FIRST OFF, TELL US ABOUT YOU + YOUR SHOP!
i’m adelia sugarman, the owner / designer / maker behind owlkill studio. i make minimal jewelry and accessories in my small renovated studio in upstate ny using carefully sourced materials like dead stock vintage beads and scrap leather. the name comes from the owlkill river, which runs through the woods behind my parents’ house where i grew up.
WHEN DID YOU FIRST START CREATING?
i’ve always been a creative person, and i’ve had a pretty unconventional upbringing that allowed me to indulge my creativity from a very young age. my mom is an amazing artist and actually worked as a designer of hand hooked wool rugs for almost 3 decades, starting before i was born. i have so many early memories of going to work with her and watching her sketch out designs on giant light tables and listening to npr all day. so from a very young age i thought that being an artist was a totally normal job to have, and i think it really shaped my expectations of what i could do with myself later in life.

our wedding : sources
to wrap up the entire week of wedding posts, i thought it would be fun + helpful (?) to share the sources of everything.
our custom cocktail napkins were printed by for your party, they were sooo helpful when i called multiple times to ask questions and make changes. and they even helped us save on the napkins using the same top image and typing in the facts themselves. and YES. both of our names are in lyrics on the white album! clearly it’s meant to be.

everything else we made for our wedding
because i didn’t have process shots for the remaining things i made, i decided to round everything up in one post (with as much detail as i can tell you)! we were at my moms house working on all of the projects, because no cats and waaay more space to make + store things. (we actually had an entire closet full of all the wedding stuff, which we still haven’t cleared out — sorry mom.)
wood plant hangers
i had wood cut in various sizes : square and rectangle and got some simple woven rope. using my stepdads drill press (you can also just use a regular drill), we just cut four holes in each piece of wood and tied big enough knots on the underside to hold in place. we mixed it up in terms of sizes and layers, and added a large metal ring to the top of each hanger. we made these last minute just to hang at the bar during cocktail hour, because we are cray. and thank you to my brother who helped hold while i tied.
