we share a love for eggs and anything latin. this recipe tied in well with our common obsessions, and is perfect for any season! enjoy!

02 | place them on your plates, and oil the pan keeping it on a medium heat, add your eggs, and fry fry fry!
03 | in a small sauce pan, add the beans, and some diced cilantro. cook until hot. (you can also use a microwave if you please.)

diy wood ring box
one last minute simple wedding DIY we made was this ring box. we wanted something minimal and a little masculine, and i had this plan of making this super rad intricate one — but with time permitted, i decided to keep it easy by using a premade box.
i purchased this acacia salt cellar and stuffed the inside with padding and voila! a custom little ring box that fits both of our rings and feels really safe and sturdy.
materials
- salt cellar
- a few sponge
s
- black velvet or fabric of your choice
- scissors
- fabric glue
directions
01 | fill your salt cellar with layered sponges cut into circles until you reach the height you want. i wanted mine close the top.
02 | once you have all your sponges ready to go, cut the top layer of sponge into three pieces (if you are only using for one ring, cut into half instead)
03 | cover the three individual pieces with your fabric, secure with fabric glue.
04 | glue down to the layer below. let dry overnight and stick your rings in!
well how easy was that?

payday wishlist by the veda house
i am a HUGE FAN of cassie of the veda house, so i asked her to share some autumn inspired items for this weeks wish list! if you haven’t checked out her blog, go do it asap. then go see her amazing graphic design portfolio.
——————————————————————————————————————————
hi guys! while molly is off tying the knot is palm springs, i’ve been invited to share a few of my favorite products that get me in the mood for fall. i’m more of a summer kind of gal, so beautifully designed products that just scream “COZY” definitely help make the transition towards a cooler season.
as a minimalist who’s drawn to very monochromatic color palettes, the items are perfect autumn pieces my home/wardrobe. i’m loving the more aggressive materials (iron & leather) paired with the softer wool items. enjoy!
huge congrats to molly and her beau! thanks for having me molly.

diy wedding program fans
even though we’ve made a ridiculous amount of things for the wedding — you’re probably wondering why i haven’t posted any DIYs for any of the projects. there are two reasons. one is that i didn’t want to ruin any surprises for the guests, the second is that we’ve been working at my moms house on everything because our apartment is way too cramped to do any sort of bulk projects. but her house is really dark, so i haven’t really been able to take process shots. i will still explain how i did everything when i get the photos though!
but here is one project that i can share right now, because it’s SUPER EASY and NOT REALLY THAT EXCITING.
we had been checking the forecast for weeks and weeks, and had been prepared for the worst (i’m talking 110°). why did we choose palm springs?! we felt like we were obligated to make the programs into fans, which was a little tedious to make, but they work surprisingly well.
materials
- two sides of programs printed on thick cardstock
- popsicle sticks
- scotch tape
- double sided permanent tape
directions
01 | print your double sided design, we had our bridal party listed on one side and our timeline for the evening on the other. we had ours printed on cardstock #100 at kinkos, which was a horrible idea. we spent way more than we would have liked on this, so i would suggest printing at home if you can.
02 | tape the stick onto one side with enough scotch tape to make it feel secure and tight.
03 | apply a piece of double sided tape to each corner of the paper, 4-5 small pieces works fine.
04 | take the other sheet and slowly line up on one side, slowly push down to the other to line up the full piece.
05 | carefully and gently burnish with your fingertips.
place on every chair at your ceremony and any guest at a hot weather wedding will thank you.

tulum honeymoon
while the wedding is TOMORROW — a lot of my excitement is building up for the honeymoon. in a few days, we’ll be sitting on the beach drinking margaritas and i cannot wait! the biggest problem with planning our trip is that i should have shopped for beach wear before the fall season started. i’ve been looking for a swimsuit in stores and it feels impossible.
we’re staying at two hotels and i’ll be instagramming away i’m sure. so follow me there and i’ll be back with a travel post when i’m home!

give better gifts
i’m super into giving people gifts they won’t throw into a closet and i’m also super into curating boards full of gift ideas (as you probably know) — so today i’m sharing with you guys this new website i’ve teamed up with called giftry. it’s the easiest way to find the perfect gift for whatever occasion comes up.
along with some of my favorite bloggers, i’m an influencer on the site – so we have compiled different boards of gift ideas. if you like someone’s aesthetic or pinterest, then that’s a really helpful resource when you’re looking for gifts online. and just like you get addicted to pinning, i started getting a little into making boards and doing some virtual shopping, mostly for myself. but maybe for you too.
you can start a board for the said-gift getter. so like : if gideon has a birthday coming up, i can create a board for gifts ideas for him. then i can share it with our friends and family and make sure he gets gifts he actually likes rather than add to a pile of gifts to give away when it’s someones birthday.
he actually got me in the habit of immediately writing down when he mentions he wants or needs something – so now i do it with everyone. i have countless text notes in my phone of gift ideas for all my relatives. it’s kind of the best way ever to keep track of good present ideas, so i highly recommend starting. and it works for non-material gifts too – i am always checking the performers at our nearby indian casino — because if someone good plays there, surprise tickets and a night at the hotel are the best gift ever. but that’s just one idea. i’ve also gotten my parents cooking classes, which they loved. we once got my little sister a beef jerky of the month membership. i really hate it when i get my mom the wrong gift and i see it with the tags on years later. so you can totally avoid this with giftry YAY!
i don’t know about you, but giving someone things they might actually want is way more exciting to me than giving them an itunes gift card. and you make sure your loved ones are on the same track for gift ideas can avoid the said closet toss.
anyway — you can sign up for giftry, check out my gift ideas and the rest of the influencers’, and maybe create some gift lists for yourself or someone real lucky.
THIS PROGRAM IS SPONSORED BY GIFTRY.

roasted artichokes with miso jalapeño aioli by the artful desperado
hey everyone! it’s gabriel from artful desperado with a foodie guest post.
so as you may know miss molly is getting hitched (yay!). that is one mammoth of a task to handle, i mean the invitations, the guests, the flowers – i’m already dizzy. since molly and her friends and family must be running on a heavy sleep deficit and little energy to cook, i decided to share a recipe that’s A: super easy to make, and B: tastes like heavenly comfort. perfect for those OMG-i-totally-need-a-snack moments.
cue: roasted artichokes with miso jalapeño aioli. it’s spicy, it’s creamy, it’s rich and sexy. if you want you can totally light some candles and feed your date some artichoke while dipping it in the sauce – it’s like ghost the movie! minus the messy clay scene. here’s the recipe:
roasted artichokes with miso jalapeño aioli
serves 4-6ingredients
– 4 medium/big fresh artichokes
– 1 lemon
– 1 tablespoon non-salted butter, soft
– 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
– 2 large egg yolks, at room temp
– 1 tablespoon white vine vinegar
– 1 tablespoon miso
– 1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (with seeds in for heat)
– salt and fresh cracked pepper to seasoninstructions
01. preheat your oven at 375F
02. grab your artichokes and the top 1/4 (from the tip down). you should see some of the purple leaves exposed. if your choke has a stem, peel it the skin off and cut a bit of the dry end.
03. grab some pieces of tin foil (enough to wrap the choke completely). drizzle artichokes with a little bit of olive oil and place a few blobs of the soft butter in between the leaves. squeeze some lemon juice on them. sprinkle salt and pepper and wrap completely with foil.
04. place all chokes in the oven and bake for about an hour ( a bit more if they are huge). to test for doneness simply remove one of the middle leaves and if the bottom is soft and edible you’re good to go. once they’re done, remove from the oven and set aside (leave them covered).now let’s make the aioli.
– place the jalapeno, miso, and egg yolks in a bowl, then slowly drizzle a bit of the olive oil, continue to whisk hard until you see it emulsify (looks like thin mayo), once this happens start adding the rest of the olive oil slowly. once it’s nice and thick, add the vinegar and squeeze the rest of the juice left in the lemon.
– adjust seasoning with salt and pepper and that’s it!
NOTE: if you have a food processor, you can skip the bowl and whisk and do it by drizzling the oil through the feeder at the top.
if your aioli splits, simply whisk like there’s no tomorrow.
now let’s eat! get rid of the hard outer leave of the choke and get to the meaty ones in the centre, then dip and enjoy. when you get to the core, peel off the furry part and eat the heart. BEST PART.
congrats molly! see ya lata fellas!

wedding updates
i’ve decided that the radio silence has gone on long enough without at least giving a little update of where i’ve been. we’re TWENTY FOUR DAYS away from the wedding and between 24/7 wedding tasks and actual work, it’s all just been too much for me to be able to blog right now. there have been very few days where i’m not checking something off or making something, so i will have plenty of DIY posts when i can get that together. but here’s an update on where we are with this thing.
INVITES after two proofs and a lot of back and forth, we finally were happy with the invites we designed, which i will share soon. after spending two days hand addressing every envelope, we felt so good and so much relief. but then shit got real like right away.
THE WEEKEND while we have all our vendors ready to go, i’ve also been planning our rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks at my favorite palm springs restaurant. it’s been a little stressful choosing two menus, but i’m excited for the party. and i think i finally just found my dress for it maybe.
ATTIRE we’ve gotten gid’s suit and it’s at the tailor now! all of the bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids and flower girl have their dresses (i went with mismatched) and the groomsmen got some matching grey suits downtown that hopefully don’t look as cheap as they are. i’m not totally decided on my accessories yet but i think i’m close (going very simple with it, of course.) i have some simple sandals, a fancy bracelet and possibly a gold flower crown. and my final dress fitting is next week, EEEK.
MY BACHELORETTE PARTY my friends threw me a super fun girls weekend in palm springs at this amazing house they rented. we stayed in the pool gossiping, drinking a ton, we had matching heart sunglasses, we played a custom jeopardy game, painted our nails. this was by far the best part of the wedding for me so far.
DECOR my parents have been working with the same carpenter for over ten years now – so he offered to build our chuppah as our wedding gift! i am so excited to see it, it’s something my stepdad designed and will be all blonde wood like i like. we’ve picked out all of our rentals and i am feeling very good that we were able to get a cool modern look despite using any hipster-y rental companies. well let’s hope so. i have a couple of mexican blankets we’re going to toss around to try to decorate — and i have purchased a couple of kilim runner rugs on ebay for our aisle.
FLOWERS florists are so expensive, so for some reason – i hired mine to just do my bouquet and a couple of flower crowns, and then i enlisted the help of my stepdad to do the rest. well it’s been pretty stressful, we have a huge venue space with a lot of need for filling. we’ve taken multiple trips to the flower mart and picked our favorites and then gone back when we found out they wouldn’t last in the heat. we’re keeping it simple and going to use a lot of cacti and succulents and just a few flowers thrown in for color and warmth.
BOOZE we went to costco and bought a bunch of wine to sample, brought them home and had a tasting and have picked our wines. now we just have to buy it, along with vodka, beer, champagne. ugh. we’re just sticking with wine, beer and a speciality cocktail which we’re basing off of our favorite at the ace palm springs.
GETTING PRETTY i also decided to have my maid of honor do my makeup for the day. we went to sephora and picked out everything and i’m feeling very good about the makeup! i’ve also been exercising three times a week which has made blogging even more not possible. i’ve never been one for exercise, but barre is actually kinda fun and really hard – but by the time i get home and am showered it feels like i start my day so late. but i think my bod is looking good so that’s what matters. we’re also whitening our teeth. i had this plan 5 months ago that i would be getting bi-weekly facials, eyelash extensions, highlights, spray tan… i’ve done none of that. i guess i’ll try to exfoliate before the wedding as much as i can.
MAKING WHAT FEELS LIKE EVERYTHING so far, we’ve made all of our dinner napkins. they’re linen. we’ve painted almost all of the signs that will be scattered around. we’re spray painting hundreds of candles and bottles for the tables. we’ve designed and printed our programs and menus. we turned those programs into fans. we’ve hand painted 300+ rocks for scattering. my best advice for making this much is to enlist your friends and family for assembly lines. my mom, cousin and i made 135 napkins in like 2 hours.
still on the list : we’re making a flower girl basket, hanging plant holders, dessert signs, a photo booth background, and probably a lot more than i’m remembering right now.
WELCOME BAGS you may remember i was debating whether or not i needed these, but all of my female relatives say YES. so instead of a wedding favor, we’re going to offer people a succulent from the table and have a bag waiting for them at the hotel full of a couple nice things and some snacks. we tried to keep the cost low so i skipped the sunglasses i was planning on putting in and subbed out for wholesale playing cards and advil. i’ll ALSO do a post on the wedding bag once we compile them. promise.
ADVICE i really thought making everything would be a blast, but it’s a lot. A LOT A LOT. and while we’re finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel now, in retrospect there are a lot of choices i would change. honestly, i would probably just elope in the caribbean. but i’m feeling very positive that we will get everything together and it will be my favorite day ever. but i’m also just really looking forward to laying on the beach in tulum and not making shit. i’m on DIY overload and sorry you guys aren’t getting to experience it. but i promise to get my act together and post them at some point. i do kinda miss this. a teeny tiny bit.
