palm springs pt 2

we went to palm springs last weekend to scout wedding venues – and i’m just now finding the time to post photos… better late than never right? you may have noticed i’ve been really bad about posting for the past few weeks. i promise i’m going to get better. but life things are really pretty chaotic right now. so it’s just a matter of balance.

we stayed at the ace for the weekend, and besides going around to scout venues, we mostly hung around the room and the pool.

we had brunch at cheeky’s, which always has a line, but it’s one of the best brunches in palm springs in my opinion. their bloody marys are super spicy in the best way.

we never go to palm springs and miss out on eating at las casuelas terazza, which is a cute authentic mexican restaurant with al fresco dining, margaritas, and a lot of times on weekends – live music.

pretty sure everyone stays at the ace for the design, not for the luxury aspect. it’s just an old super 8 motel with a hip facelift, but i can’t help but be inspired when i’m there (or the parker). i’ve been in this lobby a dozen times, but was really inspired this time, thinking that we need to DIY a macrame chuppah for the wedding.

we did find our venue – and we set our date! but my anxiety is getting the best of me, and i’m seriously wishing it wasn’t so soon… this is a normal reaction to an engagement right?!

  1. Isn’t the Ace Hotel the BEST? There’s a drink at their bar called the Man Eater which is amazing. I also drooled at remembering how good those hashbrowns in your photo are! Congrats on finding your venue; I’m sure it will be a beaut!

  2. Just came across your blog through pinterest to find your most recent post is about one of my fave spots ever (got married at The Ace in 2012). Lovely blog, looking forward to reading more, esp as you plan a desert wedding! =)

  3. i want to go to palm springs so bad! is the ace worth the price, or would you recommend some place else? i’m usually into luxury hotels, but i think i’d love the design. and a short engagement is the way to go! we had six months, and i needed one to get everything done. you’ll drive yourself crazy (and go broke) if you have too much time. being married is great!

    1. Christie–We’ve stayed at the Ace twice now and loved our experience both times. Super hip and casual and leaves you feeling relaxed and inspired. Love the vibe there! Another place to check out though that is super plush (and about the same price) is Korakia Pensione. We haven’t made it there yet since they have a two night min on weekends, but I am DYING to go. Morrocan/Bohemian architecture and vibe. There’s candles lit everywhere at night and they play old movies outside after dark. Google pics of this place…it looks amazing! But we really do love Ace and are actually going this weekend for our anniversary!

  4. Oh yea! My anxiety was sky high I put off sending out the save the dates an extra month! It’s so worth it though, makes it more exciting 😉

  5. Great pics! I have been wanting to check out ace hotel– looks so fun!!
