happy weekend
another weekend! we have some family plans and we’re also going to pickle lots of things this weekend for our upcoming housewarming party. it’ll be action packed. lol. have you ever had pickled watermelon rind? it’s so dope, i had it once and i’m very excited to make it. we’re also going to do pickles and carrots and maybe some other things? if you have any ideas, i’m all ears!

how to make DIY modernized cabinet doors
while i love the storage the multiple built-in cabinets our house came with, i hated the cathedral cabinet doors. so i asked our carpenter right away about replacing them and he said that’s gonna be a lot of money. so i researched prefab and that proved challenging, and i googled and i got quotes and it looked like i was just going to have to live with them because i wasn’t about to spend thousands of dollars just to replace these stupid doors.
but we love flat modern everything so i wasn’t going to be happy with that.

and now it’s august? daaamn summer is flying by. you’ve probably noticed posts have slowed down a little lately — i honestly don’t know how people handle remodels while working full time jobs, because it really is a full time job. i’m not even doing any labor, but between coordinating and planning and sourcing, along with my other jobs — it’s a lot. i’m super glad we’re almost done with it (and then onto the next… haha) Read More

we’re heading out to palm springs today, for our first time together since our wedding! tomorrow is my birthday and gids is on tuesday, so we’re celebrating with a weekend away — it’ll be so nice to be away from the backyard project for a couple of days, even if we’re going to melt in 115 degree heat… shit. you can follow me on snapchat to see where we’re staying! long beach, california
a couple of weeks ago we spent the weekend in long beach, i’ve never really been there besides for a beach boys concert and a film festival at the queen mary. it was a super easy drive and the city is so much cuter than i even expected, chock full of cute boutiques and restaurants, which you know i love. looking back — june
june flew right by. i say that monthly, huh. but it did! the only thing that’s different about that sentiment is last month when i said time was moving too quickly and we weren’t even close to finishing our backyard… we are way way closer now!
backyard progress
we took all of your very thoughtful suggestions to skip bamboo in our backyard, and we went with podocarpus instead. after we painted the house, we planted them along our fences and we’re making some serious progress on our patio remodel. so excited to show you guys once its done, but there are really only a couple of steps left! i’m sure i mentioned that we’re planning a very belated housewarming/birthday party when it’s done.
