    diy trick or treat bags

halloween is coming up real soon — and who doesn’t want to have the best candy on the street?! here’s a very easy way to make yours stand out (and portion it fairly which i never do).

    trick or treat bags

    materials

    cellophane bags
    thick cardstock
    a printer
    scissors
    stapler (or double sided tape)

    treat bagstreat bags diy

    directions

one . print out the printables at 100% scale. make sure they’re not scaled up. these measure 5.75″ wide by 5″ tall to fit my bags, but you can size up or down.

two . fold the paper in half and cut it out. i trimmed my bags a little because i only had so much candy. fill with candy and then staple on the toppers!

    payday wishlist

hey it’s friday! we saw gravity last weekend, and i wanted to warn anyone that wants to see it to definitely see it in the theatre and in 3D. it’s not the greatest movie of all time, but i really think it could be boring at home on your tv. so see it – it’s like a 2 hour star tours ride.

    payday wishlist / 60

one . these would look so cute and fancy for a night out with a ponytail.
two . i will forever love baskets and bins for crap. i want to fill this foil covered paper bag with all my crap.
three . so this rug is actually a yoga mat, and i don’t do yoga — but that means it would be a perfect kitchen mat!
four . love love this simple diamond ikat phone case.
five . an adorable little pouch that would look amazing with an all black outfit.

photographer dina fried created this photography series of meals entitled fictitious dishes inspired by famous books. guess which book inspired each meal (via buzzfeed)

i am such a sucker for wes anderson movies, i see a poster and i’m already in. actually i hear a title or premise and i’m in. well now there’s a trailer to watch. in in in in. ps when i first moved to la, i saw royal tenenbaums 4 times in the theatre — i had no friends. (via huffington post)

i’m in awe over these oil paintings by alyssa monk. i love how she does different water patterns on each one. (via the artful desperado)

i JUST threw away leftover buttermilk after i convinced my boyfriend i’d find a way to use the rest up. i didn’t, and it went bad. and now i see this of course. these three ways to use up leftover buttermilk sound gooood. and helpful. (via the savory)

love this mini mr. rogers costume and i love that it looks like he didn’t want to hold the puppets. (via oh happy day)

these easy clay pumpkins can be used as wine stoppers, drink toppers, whatever you could think of. my favorite DIYs are always the simplest. (via paper & stich)

the kids bathroom, pt 1?! the smallest and darkest the kids bathroom, pt 1?! the smallest and darkest room in the house and like zero storage, so i knew i wanted to spruce it up a bit right away just so we could use it more comfortably. i got the CUTEST scallop pendant light and little brass mirror from @bedbathandbeyond along with some other accessories to freshen it up, and we added a shelf across the sink wall for some much needed counter space.

i really thought a butter yellow bathroom could be cute, with the existing vintage tile but the room is so dark everywhere *except* directly next to the window so the color looks completely different on every wall! i started with a creamy yellow, and it ended up looking flesh toned, so i painted AGAIN and i don’t even know if i like yellow anymore? 😆 but i am so not interested in painting again right now so we’re gonna live with it for now...

also, sink skirt yay or nay?!

soaking up our last first east coast summer 🌞 soaking up our last first east coast summer 🌞

picking flowers, beach days, delicious fruit, incredible marketplace finds! heaveeeeeen!!!!!
an arlo room update, pt 1! sadly we couldn’t fit an arlo room update, pt 1! sadly we couldn’t fit his bunkbed in his new room, but there was no way i was saying goodbye to his @avocado.green mattresses, so i searched forever for a full over twin trundle until i realized @avocado.green makes the perfect one!!! i’m so happy we’ll still have space for guests when they come visit us 😭

it’s solid wood and individually crafted in their workshop in LA, made with non-toxic, zero-VOC glues, paint, and varnishes, and it comes with or without the trundle and in twin size too. i feel like he’ll be sleeping on this until college?!

both my kids use @avocado.green mattresses and not only are they incredibly comfy, but they’re also made of certified organic wool, cotton, and latex to keep them cool and dry in summer, and warm in winter (which we’re gonna need for the first time ever now!) his friend even got the same mattress after a sleepover because he begged his mom hahah

comment WANT for the links sent straight to your dms 🤍

and ps how do we feel about a fully blue room??? lol
