our trip to martha’s vineyard and what i packed

sorry for the delay on this post, but back from another annual vacation to my happy place – and i’m missing new england more than ever being home. you know me!

we stayed for two weeks, the first week with friends and the second week with family. it’s such a schlep to get there from california, so it’s so worth it to stay the extra week (not to mention the schlep of packing 3 times though)

our first week we stayed in the cutest little cottage at sengekontacket pond, near oak bluffs. it was one of the best stocked rental houses i’ve ever been in! i just felt so at home there and i was so sad to leave. we had friends stay in a house walking distance which was so fun!

highlights of the week:

lotssss of time at the arcade
discovering delish breakfast at aalias coffee
shopping in vineyard haven is always a fave – and fish MV has such a chill patio with spicy mango margaritas (waterside market next door has better food though!)
the strawberry rhubarb from the pie chicks
oysters on the beach at menemsha is always the most magical

here’s the link for our rental house

and because i took sooo many pictures but don’t want to bore you forever :

the second week, we moved into a new area we’ve never stayed in – edgartown, which i love and we were all very excited about. the town of edgartown is full of cute shops and has a fancier vibe so it was exciting to do something new and different for a trip we’ve done many times before.

our house was so beautiful, but full of issues and honestly i don’t recommend anyone renting it so i’m not going to link it!

highlights of the week:

spending the whole week in the pool
discovering my now favorite lobster roll at katama general store
the jaws themed escape room we went to for arlos bday (it’s hilariously low tech but he loved it haha)
dinners at home with supplies from morning glory farm
a cute double date night with my brother and SIL at 19 raw oyster bar
the liz lemon at 7a foods (in my top 3 sandwiches ever probably)
a girls day at the chilmark flea
my brother getting their mini van stuck in the sand (not a highlight for them i’m sure but we’ll never forget that night now haha)

i will update this guide with a few new spots soon, but in the meantime, here’s my :

martha’s vineyard travel guide

now… is this the vacation that finally sets me over the edge and pushes us to move to new england???

and here’s some of what what i packed

i always overpack for every trip, but more than anywhere i wear so little variety when i’m on the island. you really don’t need to dress up at all if ever, so i always pack — a few swimsuits, soft easy pants, a few linen button downs to wear over tanks and my swimsuits, easy summer dresses and sandals.

i also packed my new favorite denim jacket for chillier nights (we didn’t have many, it was so much warmer than other years) it’s perfectly boxy and worn in soft.
