some glimpses of joy lately #ApplePartner — been p some glimpses of joy lately #ApplePartner — been puttering around the house soaking up the end of autumn/beginning of winter, listening to MY WHOPPING SECOND @applebooks AUDIOBOOK, wearing sweaters, eating muffins!

and i’m reading “wild dark shore” by @charlottemcconaghy, another @reesesbookclub pick.

and please weigh in— tile stickers better than the tile here? i bought them, but now i’m thinking the original tile is fine!?
DIY house portrait plate! i’m joining @perkinsonp DIY house portrait plate!

i’m joining @perkinsonparkway and @peonyandhoney for CRAFTmas day 14!! they’ve been making the cutest holiday crafts daily and i’m tired just thinking about it!

this plate diy is so simple to make and you seriously don’t need to be good at drawing— mine is totally off center and it doesn’t even bother me!! (jk it does)

✷ use a piece of white tissue paper to trace the house in pencil (you can print a pic of the house or just trace on an ipad)
✷ tape it onto your plate and go over it with a thin sharpie (do it twice if you really want a heavy bleed!)
✷ remove the tissue paper and then draw it yet again with a ceramic paint pen!
✷ add text, add decorations— and if you want to change things you can easily remove with rubbing alcohol
✷ once you’re happy with your design, bake according to the marker instructions (i also let it cool in the oven)

comment MAKE if you want the link for the paint pen, etc sent straight to your dms ❤️

diy fabric paper chains! totally no-sew project bu diy fabric paper chains!
totally no-sew project but if you know how to sew —sew it up!

i love love hanging paper chains around the house but i really wanted to make some that we could keep FOREVER. i went a little crazy in the fabric section and got a ton of patterns but this would also look so cute in just 1 or 2 pattern variations too! now i’m second guessing if i shoulda gone simpler haha.

cut 1-1.5” strips of fabric and use fuse tape to bond with an iron. then just use fabric glue to create your loop and let dry with chip clips on to keep their shape.

i spent a solid week adding more and more loops whenever i felt like doing something productive with my hands, you could obviously make this as short or as long as you want!

after a year (and a cross country move) i would say they held up well but definitely did fray on the ends! if you double fold they won’t!

also if i decide to make more, it would be soooo sweet to use the kids old clothing! 😭

a look back on christmas memories from last year w a look back on christmas memories from last year when arlo left santa a dollar 😭 and when we had one giant room for our house — feeling so grateful for so much more cozy low ceiling space to decorate, but also i need 100 more garlands now so it’s a bit much
this will be our first thanksgiving in connecticut this will be our first thanksgiving in connecticut, and our first thanksgiving on our own. i’ve never actually made
the turkey before and well... i don’t even like turkey so WHY BOTHER!? instead i’m doing a big chicken because
my whole family actually likes chicken!

it feels intimidating to do the “grown-up cooking,” but this @oxo carbon steel roaster is the mvp. it cooks so evenly, gives you that crispy skin moment, works on all stove tops (even induction!), AND it’s metal-utensil safe so you can carve without worrying about scratching it!!!

like seriously, every drawer in this kitchen has an @OXO gadget in it.

also if you’re a worrier about under or overcooking, this leave-in digital thermometer will change your life. you stick it in, you can set a target temp for whatever you’re cooking and it’ll tell you when it’s ready!!

if you want the links, comment WANT and i’ll send em straight to your inbox.

thanksgiving chicken recipe (it’s just @inagarten ofc) :

- heat the oven to 425°F. remove the chicken giblets. pat outside super dry.
- liberally salt and pepper the inside of the chicken. stuff the cavity with a bunch of thyme, sage, two halves of a lemon halves and a head of garlic cut crosswise. brush the outside of the chicken with 2 tb of butter and sprinkle again with salt and pepper.
- tie the legs together with kitchen string and tuck the wing tips under the body of the chicken. scatter thickly sliced onion and quartered carrots around the chicken.
- roast the chicken for 90 mins, or until the juices run clear when you cut between a leg and thigh. remove to a platter and tent loosely with foil while you prepare the gravy.
- remove all the fat from the bottom of the roasting pan, reserving 2 tb. add 1 cup chicken stock to the pan and cook on high heat for about 5 minutes, until reduced, scraping the bottom of the pan.
- combine 2 tb of chicken fat with 2 tb flour and add to the pan. boil for a few minutes to cook the flour. strain the gravy into a small saucepan and season it to taste. keep it warm over a very low flame while you carve the chicken.
diy recycled christmas stars 🌟✨ i made these with diy recycled christmas stars 🌟✨

i made these with toilet paper rolls, gold rub & buff and velvet ribbon, that’s it! (well i actually preferred how the paper towel rolls cut fyi!) i planned on making this into a garland but ended up just doing some ornaments for now— but these would be so cute all over the house! hanging from a candle holder, a wall sconce, a doorknob!?

my algorithm has been stressing me out because homemade christmas crafts are so hot right now and i’ve felt overwhelmed even though this is my wheel house, i’ve got piles of supplies and lists of craft ideas ready but zero motivation.

SO decided to start small and simple!
if you’re feeling the same way, just grab some old TP rolls, throw on a movie (i’m partial to “love hard”) and make something cute and easy

if you want the supplies, just comment MAKE and i’ll send em over to your dms ❤️
