  1. Don’t bother with the west elm copper set (number 11). We registered for the set and were excited when we got it. The plating began coming off after a month of use. I contact west elm and they said they believed it was normal wear and tear. Now 6 months out, they look terrible. Don’t waste your money or time with west elm customer service. Unfortunately after this experience, I will never shop with them again.

    1. Same! I got the West Elm copper set for Christmas, used them maybe twice, and they started getting rust spots. They’re definitely not pretty enough anymore for guests, and I have to pick through my stash to find two decent looking sets for special dinners with my husband :-/

YES! Same… and from Target?! LOVE

  2. So pretty! We never did buy a whole flatware set when we moved in together and didn’t bother to register for any when we got married…our little mix and match pieces really could use a replacement.

  3. Thank you!! I have been searching high and low for the right flatware! I’m drawn to the black but it’s hard to not think of plastic utensils

  4. I have been doing a bit of investigating with regards to the copper / gold / brass flatware. After reading the fine print most of them are dishwasher safe however recommend drying straight after washing. For the most part my flatware sits in the dishwasher after it has run it’s cycle. So as most things that are gorge, you need to take that extra care when using..

  5. we got some of the cb2 flatware (451) and have had it for almost a year now. we run them through the dishwasher and actually turned off the drying mode (not sure where I saw this advice) and have had no problems with wear or rusting! for the price, they’re hard to beat. I love some of the other versions, but do worry about having to be too careful with them.

  6. We got 2x Hudson sets from crate and barrel for our wedding, each set is 52 pieces for $99; the design is clean and modern. It doesn’t have great reviews on their site, but we’ve had it since August, use the dishwasher all the time, and it’s in excellent condition. Occasionally there are slight stains on the knives but it buffs right off with a dish towel, I think it’s an insane value.

  7. Now I want a new flatware set, thx. I’m all heart eyes for numbers three and eight.

  8. Thank you for this post! I am on a hunt for lovely cutlery. 3,4,6,7,8 and 11 absolutely stole my heart! x
