port of la waterfront

all opinions are 100% mine.
last week gid and i ventured out to san pedro for an afternoon to the LA waterfront for a late lunch. i’ve never been there before and wasn’t really sure what to expect — and it was not what i expected! it’s super packed full of people eating, drinking, doing karaoke.
they have a ton of activities there, but we went to eat — if you like seafood, this place is your jam. if you like insane amounts of seafood, this is even more your jam. the san pedro fish market is just one GIANT fish market where you can buy fresh seafood to take home and cook or you can get prepared food to eat there. they have giant platters filled with shrimp, calamari, fried whole fish, shellfish, and big huge pieces of garlic bread.
the LA waterfront for foodies is super fun for a big group or family outing to get a big portion of food for everyone and pig out. there are tons of stands with different things to eat and lots to drink if you’re not pregnant like me. and obviously you can sit right on the water while you eat!
being originally from massachusetts, i have a real strong affinity for shellfish — and i’ve never really encountered anywhere in southern california that was this seafood oriented. besides the generous platters of shrimp and fish, a ton of the stands had a bunch of kinds of ceviche, freshly shucked oysters, calamari and corn on the cob. there are options for you non seafood lovers, but you should really start eating seafood because it’s really good.
the fish market to-go section had super good prices on their lobsters and lots of whole fish options, and if i weren’t pregnant right now i would have eaten 4 dozen oysters like i used to in the good old days!
