DIY moon tote bag

DIY moon tote bag | almost makes perfectDIY moon tote @mollymadfis

so moons are totally still in right? what’s the next moon? i’m not sure, but i’m still way into moons. i have a trunk and a drawer and a kitchen cabinet full of reusable bags, so basically i believe you can’t have enough bags (especially when bags cost 10 cents at the store). so i made one today!

directions

01. print out your moon onto a sheet of the iron-on paper. let dry for a couple of minutes before you carefully cut out around the circumference.

02. turn on your iron (with no steam) and let it heat up for 5 minutes before ironing with two hands for 4 minutes.

03. let cool down for 5-10 minutes, and carefully peel up an edge (using tweezers if it’s too hard), then carefully peel the transfer paper off.

  1. This is so cool! I’m always looking for DIY ways with anything space related. Last DIY was a moon phase wall hanging art (which I ended up decorating my work desk with). I’m excited to try this idea. Thank you! Awesome blog!

  2. That’s a wonderful idea! I love the subtle moon design.

  3. very simple and cute! Will definitely give this a go….maybe on a darker background 🙂

  4. Very cute. I happen to love the moon and stars also. I love totes also. My husband is always telling me that I have too many purses and totes lol. I surely wish I could sew as you do. I have a singer sewing machine, but I find I can sew better with my finger than I can with my machine. Maybe ill call Hobby Lobby and see if they will be offering a sewing class soon.

  5. Hi there!!!!
I have to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE this tutorial. It is totally outta this world!!! Hehehehe
    Sorry, bad joke lol

Listen I have a couple of questions maybe you could help me out with!

First off, I DO and have always loved the plain “canvas” color … But I’m wondering…. Do you think it would mess up the process if I attempted to use a fabric paint on the tote before adhering the moon photo?? If u think it’s too risky I won’t bother, I just thought it might be interesting ya know?

Last thing, as far as printing the moon image on the transfer paper…. Do I need to go to an office supply store like Staples? Or is this something I can easily run through my own printer at home without screwing the whole thing up? Haha

I would love to start this project tomorrow, as I have most of the supplies here at home!!!
Please email me at your earliest convenience with your opinion!
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear from you soon!!!

  6. I have to try the iron transfer paper I’ve had for a year now stacked with all the other paper I hoard! Lovely DIY! Pinned. I really enjoy your minimal style and your easy but elegant tutorials.

  7. Hello, Molly, how are you?
I’m new here. Found your blog on behalf of another Brazilian who spoke about how to make bookends. And that redirected to your virtual corner.
Well, I loved the idea of the bag! I wanted to try.
But, as I’m a very reflective about anything and always imagine 1000 wheels on something, I thought the image of the moon also would be beautiful in a black bag. You thought too?

    Hug for you!
