eating this : challah french toast

passover is coming up. you know what that means? grocery stores are stocked with good challah. not just challah, but good challah!

CHALLAH FRENCH TOAST
(for two)

1 loaf challah (four pieces)
3 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest
butter

to serve :
maple syrup
blueberries (or any berry)

whisk together the egg mixture in a shallow bowl. slice the challah into pieces that are about 3/4 inches thick and soak them in the mixture for 2-3 minutes on each side.

heat 1 tb butter on a pan over medium heat. cook each piece of bread for 2.5 minutes on each side or so.

  1. this is so good. last time i made it i cooked pancetta w maple syrup and used that for topping and it was delicious.
